Syntax: Thorns and Roses lyrics

Syntax - Mike Tournier and Jan BurtonA transcription of Thorns and Roses which, I am pleased to say is a good deal more accurate than the previously posted Fame Game lyrics!

I close my eyes don’t let no sunlight in
Just let the darkness be my muse
I close my ears don’t let no angels sing (no angels sing)
Tell the world I’m too confused

Lay me down on thorns and roses
Loss of love is such a lonely process
Lay me down on thorns and roses
Lay me down, lay me down

I ride the waves but water crashes in
My mind alive with so much love
I vow to gain closure from within
It bears down heavy from above

Lay me down on thorns and roses (thorns and roses)
Loss of love is such a lonely process (lonely process)
Lay me down on thorns and roses (thorns and roses)
Lay me down, lay me down (lay me down)

Lay me down in thorns and roses (thorns and roses, thorns and roses)
Loss of love is such a lonely process (lonely process, lonely process)
Lay me down on thorns and roses (thorns and roses)
Lay me down, lay me down (lay me down, lay me down, lay me down, lay me down, lay me down, lay me down)

  1. Hey Martin 🙂

My attempt at a translation of Moving to Mars
I hope you can correct some errors.

    — Syntax – Moving to Mars Lyrics —

There’s something about the sun today,
is it summer is it autumn rain?
Skin and sin come aorund, the best of flesh is out

There’s something about the moon and the stars,
The nexus thing are living on Mars
when the summer comes and when the water runs.

Space and time are parallel, there’s many worlds that i can tell of,
they are way beyond, the darkest skys, we are not alone and we can fly
We locate, investigate other worlds and other states
information coming in, there’s no relation no mistake.

There’s something about the moon and the stars,
The nexus thing are living on Mars
when the summer comes and when the water runs.

We synchronise our lifes to their,
we drain goodnights, the price put in
    We compromised in-amplified time

Space and time are parallel, there’s many worlds that i can tell of,
they are way beyond, the darkest skys, we are not alone and we can fly
We locate, investigate other worlds and other states
information coming in, there’s no relation no mistake.

Hey there, love the site, and the new Syntax music.
My take on Moving to Mars:

There’s something ’bout the sun today,
is it summer is it autumn rain,
    skin and sin come out,
the best of flesh is out.

There’s something ’bout the moon and the stars,
that makes us think ’bout living on mars,
    when the summer comes,
    and when the water runs.

    Space and time are parallel,
there’s many worlds, that I can tell,
they’re way beyond, the darkest skies,
we’re not alone, and we can fly.
    We locate, investigate,
    other worlds, and other states,
    information, coming in,
there’s no relation, no more sin.

There’s something ’bout the moon and the stars,
that makes us think ’bout living on mars,
    when the summer comes,
    and when the water runs.

We synchronize our lives to them (theirs, that?),
we recognize the price put in,
    we compromised, it amplifies time.

    Space and time are parallel,
there’s many worlds, that I can tell,
they’re way beyond, the darkest skies,
we’re not alone, and we can fly.
    We locate, investigate,
    other worlds, and other states,
    information, coming in,
there’s no relation, no more sin.

There’s something ’bout the moon and the stars,
that makes us think ’bout living on mars,
    when the summer comes,
and when the water runs. (x2)

Listening to it again.. ‘We locate’ might just be ‘relocate’, to go with the moving to Mars theme 🙂 Also, I think the song is utterly brilliant, I’m totally addicted to it.

    Thanks for the comments guys!
