Holland Tunnel Dive----------------------------------------ImpLOG was a ?No Wave? band from New York featuring Don Christensen and Jody Harris (guitarist for James Chance and the Contortions), both of who would form the Raybeats shortly thereafter. ImpLOG released two singles in 1980. The first was a track called ?Breakfast? with ?She Creatures? as a B-Side and the second was ?Holland Tunnel Dive? backed by ?On B-Way?. Both are extremely rare.?Holland Tunnel Dive? is a devastating listen. The pulsating grooves and nihilistic lyrics couple to create a nightmarish New York wasteland where the only escape is ?to take a Holland Tunnel Dive.? Jazz aficionado Harris lightens the mood a bit toward the end with a saxophone solo, but that moment of hope proves to be fleeting, and an industrial drill, which curiously serves as the song?s chorus, soon eviscerates it.
