Discography update

Monday, 30 March 2009

DiscographyAlthough I am in the midst of many technical upgrades at the moment, having switched over all my systems to Ubuntu Linux, I have found some time to modify the blogging software (which runs on Microsoft ASP.NET, so I have to use Mono to develop it in my new environment) to allow me to update the 2 Bit Pie discography page.

The new page features a far nicer layout for the information along with lots of JavaScript based goodness.

Some features:
  • Click on a release title to find somewhere to buy it
  • Click on a song title to see a tracklist
  • Samples for every track produced by 2 Bit Pie
  • Covers for almost every release
  • Click on a remixers name to find out more about remix credits

This is in no way meant to compete with Marcolphus' Fluke Discography which provides, at the moment, a far wider selection. The version here is more interactive. His is a fantastic text-based resource.

It is my intention to gradually expand the interactive discography to cover every Fluke release, but this is a lengthy process, so don't hold your breath!

This has only, so far, been tested in Firefox. If anyone finds bugs, please feel free to comment below.

Check it out: The 2 Bit Pie discography.

More on live

Sunday, 29 March 2009
Camden Roundhouse

A quick update from the ditto Facebook group!

We are delighted to announce that Jon Fugler & Mike Bryant (2BIT / Fluke) are confirmed to perform live at ditto on May 16th with an exciting collaboration with the internationally respected agency Kessels Kramer.

The guys are interpreting one of the most defining moments in electronic music: ImpLOG's Holland Tunnel Dive. This will be a very special moment as one of dance music's most regarded producers, and Kessel Kramer one the most respected creative agencies bring their own magic to one of the most important and influential pieces of electronic music. The boys have chatted through with Don who has given the project his blessing & full support.

Please spread the word - for more information and to catch the broadcast visit www.ditto.tv

ImpLOG ? Holland Tunnel Dive
----------------------------------------
ImpLOG was a ?No Wave? band from New York featuring Don Christensen and Jody Harris (guitarist for James Chance and the Contortions), both of who would form the Raybeats shortly thereafter. ImpLOG released two singles in 1980. The first was a track called ?Breakfast? with ?She Creatures? as a B-Side and the second was ?Holland Tunnel Dive? backed by ?On B-Way?. Both are extremely rare.

?Holland Tunnel Dive? is a devastating listen. The pulsating grooves and nihilistic lyrics couple to create a nightmarish New York wasteland where the only escape is ?to take a Holland Tunnel Dive.? Jazz aficionado Harris lightens the mood a bit toward the end with a saxophone solo, but that moment of hope proves to be fleeting, and an industrial drill, which curiously serves as the song?s chorus, soon eviscerates it. It's a brutal listen, but one well worth the damage to your speakers and hearing.

Leaving for the other side. . .

Call for Content 2009

Monday, 23 March 2009
Fluke Tickets

Dear all,

The way that this site provides value to the fan community of Fluke, 2 Bit Pie, Syntax and others is through a unique blend of content. We have amassed the largest collection of Fluke live sets on the web. We've managed to collect videos of Fluke performing live that we never thought it possible to obtain. We also have a collection of unofficial, fan-based Fluke remixes, largely thanks to the ongoing work of "Justin Credible"; the super-hero alias, for a super-hero guy.

We'd now like to extend a request for anybody hiding in the woodwork with additional material to step forward. Do you have a live set that you are keeping to yourself? Are you hoarding videos that any fan would die to see? Are you a talented remixer who can make something new and special from an original Fluke/2 Bit Pie track? Help your fellow (wo)man and give a gift to the site.

To persuade those in doubt, there will be some incentives.

Anyone who submits:
  • a new live set
  • a new video
  • an original remix (NOT a mix compilation: these verge too close on the copyright front
  • anything else of significant Fluke interest

will be entered into a competition, ending on the 26th of May 2009, to win a copy of Fluke's Hang Tough 12 inch vinyl single. The winning entry will be selected by my solely subjective criteria!

One final word. Please remember that I am not a lawyer. I am, in fact, a student. I cannot afford any copyright problems, so anything submitted must NOT be copyrighted. It must NOT affect the band's ability to make money from their music. If I receive material that is blatant infringement, then I won't be able to post it.

The prize isn't massive but, again, this site makes no money. In fact, it makes a loss. Regardless, I hope that this small incentive persuades people to submit some new material.

Send me an email: martin@2bitpie.net

ditto
I have very exciting news for any Fluke fan.

2 Bit Pie will be undertaking an extremely limited, very special live performance at the ditto event; Camden Roundhouse; London.

No joke.

Now, before you all rush to buy tickets, please read this carefully:

Tickets are not for sale. This is a not-for-profit, extremely limited gig.

However, that does not mean that you can't see it. So, now you're hungry. How can you be involved?

There is potential for a ticket lottery.
The event will also be streamed live.

First of all, you need to be checking the ditto.tv website furiously. Here you can learn all about the project, its artistic aims and how it will all come together. You can also find out how it is centralised with the Short Circuit festival, other events of which you might also be interested in.

Secondly, you need to join the ditto.tv Facebook group. This group contains info on the collaboration process.

There is no further info on how tickets will be made available, but most importantly, you must be in the Facebook group and you must visit the website religiously. Just remember: You've gotta be in it to win it....

The live stream will take place on the day of the gig itself. However, the whole show will be broadcast once only (via ditto.tv). No repeats. No DVDs. This is a one time shared experience.

If events like this are to become more prevalant, anyone with an interest must spread the word far and wide. Tell the world. Tell the internet forums. Tell your friends.

Tell everyone: Fluke, 2 Bit Pie and electronic music is live

in 2009.

I demand that you make a recording of this gig! :D
