Fluke Top Ten Items To Have #9 is... Trance-Europe Xpress Vol. 4

Trance Europe Express Volume 4

Why has a, somewhat obscure, compilation of 90s electronic music made it onto this list? Well, because it is the only place you will get the Fluke track Synth Bit.

Synth Bit is a curious piece of Fluke history. It has very few vocals (occasional snatches of female voices in the background and a heavily reverbed questioning of "everything all right?") accompanied by the expected rolling bass lines underneath. There are some fantastic blips and beeps and wails from 3:00 onwards.

This album is also worth picking up for the 6 page biography/interview with the band accompanied by negative-colour inversion photographs of the group; an excellent colectors item about which I hope to post more info in the near future.

All in all, this piece makes the list because there are very few (hint: another one makes the top ten list) non-album tracks that are not, in some way or another, duplicated. Synth Bit is one of them.

FTTITH 10

Wednesday, 16 December 2009

Welcome to the first edition of the Fluke Top Ten Items To Have (FTTITH). This is a series that will explore the rarer items of Fluke music, memorabilia and general gumph that fans should aspire to get their hands on. Think of it as a sort of twelve days of Christmas, except ten and not after Christmas. Ok, it's not very much like the twelve days of Christmas!

Kicking off this list of gems is: Syntax - Meccano Mind (Japanese Edition)

Syntax Meccano Mind Japanese Edition

The real audio treat on this disc is track 7; Sexograph. Kicking in with a subtly modulating deep, deep bass, this is not only a great track it also makes for a fantastic speaker test in its own right.

While I am not as fond of Woman and Love Song (I Wonder Why) as Sexograph, they are as worthy of consideration as the rest of this great album.

This is one of the easiest of the Top 10 items to get hold of and is not listed here for absolute rarity, but rather for its lesser known status and sonic quality. I'll just end with a reiteration of the, undoubtedly positive, news that, despite delays, the new Syntax album is still in the works and could be out next year.

Hi people!

This japanese version from Syntax is awesome. Can somebody write down the lyrics of the 3 extra tracks, please?
I'm very interested in what they sing in them.
Thank you, and have a happy xmas!

OK, i'll start with Sexograph, maybe "anyone else" will continue :D

Sexograph:
Sensual vibes are frozen
getting colder
Time's flying away i'm getting older.

Be dirty now baby cameras are on
come on over come on be done
can we try to find this again
or is this just a long white train

you pant and sweat i pose no threat
do this for me i'm in your debt
your sordid mind leaves me just blind
your modern approach i'll never encroach

sensual vibes are frozen
getting colder
time's flying away i'm getting older

californian laugh on your sexograph
they're going to write it well on your epitaph
do you think you'd mind if we were to find
all the love to love you in kind

Fluke Promotional Photo

Saturday, 12 December 2009

A while back I managed to acquire an original glossy Astralwerks promotional photograph of Fluke from "back in the day". I thought that, for completionist purposes, I would share it here.

Feel free to click on the image for a higher resolution. A huge 22mb PNG of the shot is available on request.

Fluke Live 2010

Fluke

Afraid I've been horrendously busy for the past month or so with moving house so all has been quiet. However, as has, seemingly become customary, here's a Christmas present from 2bitpie.net

Fluke will be on tour in 2010.

Yep, that's proper old school Fluke!

The first announcement was from Mike T. on Facebook, who said:

There's another Syntax album out next year. The only tour we did was in 2004 supporting the Scissor Sisters which was a bit of a strange one! I'm doing a Fluke tour next year so I doubt whether we're going to get chance to do any Syntax gigs. We were thinking of including a bit of Syntax and 2bit in the Fluke shows though. All the best. Mike

Could it be any better?

Join the Facebook group for Fluke 2010!

To quote Jon from Twitter...

"we are now entering a moment where we will be concentrating our thoughts on the word.........FLUKE 2010"

I am definitely concentrating my thoughts on that :D
